What is Fat Bodywork?

Massage for fat embodiment, from a fat LMT, for fat, queer, disabled, and marginalized folks, and anyone else who needs space and time to return to their body.

As a fat white woman, and an artist, I have spent the last decade or more exploring fat embodiment in my ceramics and prints. Touch has always been important to me, whether I was pressing my painted flesh to paper for my body prints or using my hands to mold replicas of soft stomachs in clay. So, it felt natural to lean into that experience with embodied, creative touch as I start my career as a massage therapist.

Massage has been nearly as important as my art in my own journey towards embodiment as a fat person. For a long time, the semi-annual massages I received as gifts were the only time all year I might feel totally in my body and calm and centered. Now that I am older, and have finished my education at East West College of Healing Arts, I better understand the powerful relief that intentional touch brings to the nervous systems, as well at the many other benefits it provides.

As an LMT, my focus is always on holding space for what the client needs in that moment. I can provide both deep, targeted bodywork with a goal of pain relief or easier movement, and massage for nervous system relaxation and increased embodiment. I aim always to provide a safe space for clients, and work out of an ADA accessible studio with a wide hydraulic massage table to make sure that my work can accommodate your body. Please feel free to reach out with any questions about me or my work via my contact page, and I hope to see you on the table soon!
